TRON Energy Index (TEI): How Our Price Index Works
Every data widget on this site shows two numbers — TEI and TFHS — and people assume they're pulled from some API. They're actually computed by our own engine, and this guide explains exactly how.
Transparency is the point: an index you can't verify is just marketing.
TEI = 0-100 energy price level score: under 30 cheap, 30-50 normal, 50-70 elevated, over 70 expensive. It blends price level (50%), network congestion (30%), and volatility (20%), same methodology as Tronsell's Fee Intelligence.
What TEI measures
TEI answers one question: is TRON energy cheap or expensive right now, on a 0–100 scale? Under 30 = cheap, 30–50 = normal, 50–70 = elevated, over 70 = expensive.
It's a market barometer for rental timing — not investment advice.
The weighting
TEI = price level (50%) + network congestion (30%) + volatility (20%). Price level: where today's best quote sits in the recorded 30-day range. Congestion: live TPS vs peak (TRONSCAN). Volatility: standard deviation of recorded prices.

The data inputs
Inputs: platform quotes (manually verified, labeled with date), live TPS (TRONSCAN public API), and our own price history accumulated from visits (30-day retention). Every input is labeled live vs reference.

Reading TEI day to day
TEI < 30: strong window to lock a 24-hour rental. 30–50: normal pricing, rent when needed. 50–70: prices elevated; wait if flexible. > 70: expensive; staking or waiting beats renting.

Limitations
TEI is a snapshot, not a forecast — a cheap reading doesn't predict tomorrow. History-based percentiles need data to accumulate; early on, we label readings 'accumulating'. And market quotes can lag live platform pages.
Use TEI as one input alongside your own needs, not as gospel.
