TRON Account Resources Explained: Energy & Bandwidth on TRONSCAN
Whenever someone sends me a screenshot of their failed transfer, I ask for the same thing: the resource numbers from TRONSCAN. Nine times out of ten, the answer is right there on the address page.
Let me teach you to read your account's resource panel like we do — it's the fastest way to diagnose fee surprises.
TRONSCAN's resource panel shows your Bandwidth (free daily points), Energy Limit (daily staking allowance), and current Energy pool. Rented energy appears as delegated energy. Reading these three numbers tells you exactly what your next transfer will cost.

Open your address on TRONSCAN and scroll to 'Account Resources'. You'll see: Bandwidth (your daily points and remaining balance), Energy (your current pool), and Energy Limit (your daily staking allowance). Below that, TRX and token balances.
These numbers update in near real time — a rental you just bought should appear within a minute or two.
Bandwidth: the free tier numbers
Bandwidth shows as '1,500 / 1,500' (limit vs. remaining) for a fresh account. Each plain TRX transfer consumes ~257 points; each USDT transfer consumes ~345 points. When the remaining hits zero, the network burns small TRX amounts for the overflow.
If you send mostly USDT, ignore this number — the energy numbers are what matter.
Energy: pool vs. limit
Your Energy Limit is the daily allowance your staked TRX earns (≈9.41 energy per TRX staked). Your available Energy is that allowance minus today's consumption, plus any active delegated energy from rentals.
A common confusion: seeing 'Energy Limit: 941,000' and assuming you own 941,000 energy. You own it only until you use it — the pool drains with each transfer and refills at your daily snapshot.
Spotting rented energy
When you rent energy, TRONSCAN shows an increase in your Energy pool with a delegated source. The delegation has an expiry — usually 1 or 24 hours — after which the pool drops back to your staked allowance.

Diagnosing a failed transfer
With these numbers you can diagnose any failure: 'insufficient energy' means the pool was below ~65,000; 'insufficient bandwidth' means free bandwidth hit zero (rare for USDT); 'TRX balance too low' means not even enough to burn.
