How we collected and verified the data
On 2026-07-28 we visited the public pricing pages of 18 rental platforms and recorded their 1-hour and 24-hour quotes in SUN per energy unit. Every figure was checked at least twice by two different people, and any quote that could not be confirmed was excluded rather than guessed.
This is slower than scraping, but it is the only way we trust our own numbers. Platform pricing pages change frequently — sometimes within a single day — so treat the tables below as a snapshot and always confirm the live rate before paying. Converting to per-transfer cost is simple: rate × 65,000 ÷ 1,000,000. At 26 SUN a USDT transfer costs 1.69 TRX; at the official burn price of 100 SUN it costs 6.50 TRX; at 74 SUN it costs 4.81 TRX. Same transaction, a 2.8× spread across platforms.
Here is a subtle point most guides miss: the percentage saving from renting is independent of the TRX price. Whether TRX trades at $0.10 or $0.30, renting at 26 SUN saves you about 74% versus burning — (6.50 − 1.69) ÷ 6.50. Only the dollar amount scales; the ratio is locked in. That is why this savings math stays valid through price swings.
Why the spread is 2.8×: what the quotes actually tell you
The price gap is not random — after years of watching this market, we group platforms into three operating models that explain most of the spread.
Infrastructure platforms (26–33 SUN): they run their own staking pools, delegate programmatically, and often expose APIs. Low marginal cost per energy unit is their whole business model, so they price close to the floor.
Marketplace aggregators (40–50 SUN): they broker energy from multiple delegators rather than running pools themselves. The extra 10–20 SUN is the broker margin plus the cost of coordinating many suppliers.
Premium or slow-refreshing quotes (55–74 SUN): niche services that bundle hands-on support, or platforms whose published quotes simply have not been updated in a while. The lesson: a high quote sometimes says more about a platform's operational freshness than its service quality.
Hidden costs most price lists miss
The SUN rate is the headline number, but the total cost of renting includes five things that rarely appear in comparison tables.
Bandwidth burn: energy covers smart-contract execution, not bandwidth. When your free 1,500 daily bandwidth points are exhausted, each additional transfer burns about 0.35 TRX in bandwidth fees. Minimum rental blocks: many platforms rent in 65,000-energy units (one transfer's worth). If your sizing math lands on 1.5 units, you pay for 2 — factor that into your per-transfer cost.
Energy expiry: rented energy is time-limited. Whatever you do not use by the end of the rental window is simply gone. Over-sizing by more than ~20% turns into real money, so estimate your worst day, not your average day.
Payment method surcharges: platforms often price differently depending on whether you pay in TRX, USDT, or BTT. At Tronsell.io all three are accepted, but that is not universal — check before checkout.
API tiers for power users: if you automate, compare API pricing and rate limits separately from the consumer quote. A 300 QPS API and a free tier with ten calls a day are different products that happen to share a name.
Our scoring model: why price is only 40% of the decision
If we ranked purely by price, this article would be one line long. We do not, because a cheap platform that loses your energy mid-day costs far more than the 10 SUN you saved. Our composite score weighs four dimensions: price (40%), trust signals (30%), features such as API and rental flexibility (20%), and support responsiveness (10%).

Note what changed versus a price-only ranking: CatFee is the cheapest newcomer (33 SUN 1h) but sits third overall because it is young and we weight trust heavily; JustLendDAO charges 70 SUN but has deep brand recognition — the score still puts it low because its quote is simply not competitive. Price matters, but it is one input, not the verdict.
The 7-point trust checklist we run on every platform
Before we recommend any platform, we verify seven things. You can run the same checks yourself in about ten minutes.

5. Operator transparency. A real company, a consistent domain, and a public presence. Cloned-brand domains are a recurring scam pattern on TRON.
6. Documented API (for power users). A public API with docs signals infrastructure maturity, not just a Telegram bot selling energy.
7. Track record. We weight longevity — six months of consistent operation tells you more than a week of great prices. New platforms are not automatically bad, but they earn trust in small increments.
1-hour vs 24-hour: our breakeven rule
Every platform in our survey prices 24-hour rentals about 2 SUN cheaper per energy unit than its 1-hour tier. That discount exists because a day-long delegation costs the platform less to manage than continuous short rentals — and it compounds in your favor.
Our internal breakeven rule: if you expect to send more than one batch, or roughly 8+ transfers, across a day, the 24-hour tier wins before you even count convenience. Take 650,000 energy (ten transfers): at 24 SUN it is 15.6 TRX; at 26 SUN it is 16.9 TRX — a 1.3 TRX saving, and you never risk running dry mid-day and paying for a second minimum rental.

When a new low-price platform is worth the risk
In every survey, the cheapest quotes come from the newest platforms. That is acquisition pricing — offer the lowest rate, build volume, raise prices later. It does not mean the platform is a scam; it means you are being used as marketing, and you should price that risk in.
Our risk-adjusted approach: (1) test with the smallest rental that platform offers — one transfer's worth is perfect; (2) verify the delegation landed on-chain within minutes; (3) if step 2 checks out, keep a small reserve there, but run daily volume on your primary platform; (4) re-check the quote before every purchase — acquisition prices can vanish overnight.

Our honest recommendation
For absolute beginners: rent the smallest 1-hour package on a top composite-ranked platform, send one test transfer, verify the delegation, then scale up. Do not buy staking until you have done this once.
For daily drivers and payment businesses: rent 24 hours at day start from your primary platform, keep a backup platform with a small balance, batch your transfers, and keep 1–2 TRX liquid for the occasional bandwidth burn.
For high-frequency and automated senders: choose a platform with a real API, compare rate limits and pricing separately from the consumer quote, and automate re-renting before your energy runs out.
